Northern Arc Foundation

Bridging the Gap between Possibility and Opportunity

India's banking sector faces challenges in meeting diverse credit needs, with a limited number of institutions grappling with issues of capital access and skilled human resources. The Northern Arc Foundation contributes to knowledge and awareness through research and advocacy, emphasizing skills training and knowledge development nationwide.

Spearheading extensive research, the Foundation leverages Northern Arc's credit data, proprietary analytics models, and on-site visits to deepen insights into ground-level credit quality and customer behaviour.

The Foundation has funded key research initiatives, including:

Household Finance Research Initiative: Developing a comprehensive analytical framework for understanding customer financial well-being.

Financial Systems Design Initiative (FSD): Creating a platform for policy advocacy on key issues concerning financial inclusion and related infrastructure.

Future of Finance Initiative: Conducting in-depth research on various themes such as increased disintermediation in finance, the growth of public infrastructure for finance in India, and the enhanced use of consumer data and advanced analytics in retail finance..

Retention and the development of skills in manpower pose challenges for institutions planning to expand their reach beyond Tier-I and Tier-II geographies. A dearth of adequate financial education and vocational training has created a void in skilled manpower, especially in rural areas.

The Northern Arc Foundation is focused on supporting these institutions by building capacity through conducting relevant training programs and workshops for both existing and potential employees. With Northern Arc Capital's reach extending to 28 states, 682 districts, and 7 union territories in India, there is an opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial services sector nationwide.

Through a mobile-optimized, multilingual, gamified online learning platform, the Foundation imparts financial education that covers concepts across origination, credit, and risk. The training is designed to help employees of our 306+ partner institutions adapt to the latest trends not only in the financial services industry but also to fulfill regulatory requirements.
